A Cut To Deep to Mend

I have a past that created this broken girl I am now,
a girl that tries her hardest
to not be so dependant towards others.

What she has seen and been through
has given her all these painful memories,
she tries so hard to not let it get to her,
but it overpowers everything she holds close.

She isn't as strong as she wanted to be,
she can't love like she desires to
because fear overcomes her--
Leading her to believe that this to will be ripped from her,
like everything else.

People expect her to get over it just like that,
but they can't see how deep a cut she has.
A cut that can't seem to be healed
and it will all stop as soon as her heart stops
because then only then will all the pain go away
and stop hurting her so much.
