They are meant to be a way of learning
A way of finding your way in the world
But instead I lie here, amongst the darkness
With the pain of knowing I've hurt someone, again
I don't know what to do, or how to make it right
Nothing I can do will take back the damage
Nothing I can do will right the wrongs
I'm stuck here, not going forward, not going back
Sitting here, with the guilt and shame scaring me
The torture of my actions haunting me
The failure to learn embarrassing me
The embarrassment of failure ruining me
The negativity stains me, tarnishes my days
I'm marked by the hidden scars on my heart and in my mind
Eventually I'll be trapped behind them
As one by one my demons will come back to haunt me
That will be the day the truth consumes me
And I will be forever lost in the dark
