Romeo and Juliet

It's just like Romeo and Juliet
Star crossed lovers, modern day.
Except Juliet loves Romeo,
and Romeo doesn't love her that way

He pines for fair Rosaline,
as suitors pine for Juliet.
She denies them as he denies her,
and yet she does still not regret
all the time she has spent thinking
of a future with her dear Romeo,
for he's handsome, and perfect and everything!
And with these thoughts, she drowns in her woe.

She can't fathom how the sun keeps shining,
and how the moon still glows through the night.
She feels that she's the only one trying,
and they taunt Juliet with their light.

But she continues, just as he does,
to love someone who refuses to return
the feelings they give up so willingly,
the feelings they felt like they've earned.

And so, in this modern-day tragedy
Two teens who could have been united
were the unfortunate victims of Fate's cruel hands;
The victims of love unrequited.
