Lost and Found (Fable)

Lost and Found (Fable)

I found a golden locket
Initialed "Lucky Charm"
Scooped it from the ground
I didn't see any harm

Like they always say:
Finders keepers
What is thrown away
Only make the pocket deeper

Took it home
Didn't wear it yet
Waited for the upcoming party
To wear it on my neck

That special day came,
Black pumps and gorgeous red dress
Of course, the golden locket,
Stood out to impress

Received a phone call
My date cancelled on me
What a lousy way to start
Haven't even begun and sucks already

As I walked into the party
Guys walked right by me
Asking every other woman's hands
Passing right by like I was debris

Something seemed off...
Something was definitely going wrong
No moving pumps; stood there against the wall
Stared like a fool, as they danced to the song

After the party, my car broke down
Had to take the cab home
No one offered a single ride
I was left all alone

A valuable lesson was learned that day
Never extend your arms,
For any display
If it doesn't belong to you
It will ruin your day

* A fable is a poetic story composed in verse or prose with a moral summed up at the end. Usually using characters to teach a valuable lesson.
