Triple Bypass

by Nebula   Aug 16, 2007

Beating hearts' not going to last,
you will need a triple bypass.
Doctors speaks with words too big -
heart is clogged too much to fix...

Daddy's body cut apart.
Sternum cracked and icy heart.
Heart and lungs put on bypass,
two ribs cracked before they start...

Needles and pins as time goes by,
prayers whispered into the sky.
Bated breath and room congests,
time is like a demon possessed.

Graft one, graft two, graft three all done
sew you up, like Frankenstein
6 hours down, now ICU,
bright lights assult the sight of you.

Tubes in mouth, in lungs, in neck...
Drains protrude, drips everywhere...
Tender heart, beating too slow,
pacemaker keeps your blood in flow.

Skin so pale, I touch your face.
be strong dad, don't push the pace.
Before we know it, you'll be up again,
Dad, grand-dad and special friend...

~ For my dad who had a Triple Bypass operation on Wednesday 8 August 2007 ~
