Shade of Our Shadows

Our pasts are full of shame and sorrow
The broken hearts
The lost tomorrow.

Where we place our hope
Seems a question left unanswered
And deeds of blind encouragement
Are delusions bound for failure

Yet amongst all the trials and regrets
The mistakes and upsets
We are here
Standing in the shade of our shadows

The good memories keep us breathing
Leaning on one another
Our hearts' reason for beating

And we can still smile
Because of what lies ahead
The book is ready to be opened
The stories just waiting to be said

So as I write my heart out on this paper
I hope you'll think of me
I pray you give it just one thought
And see what we could be

Let's ride this rollercoaster of our lives
Embracing every surprise
Through all the twists and turns
Each a chance to learn

Living life while we are young
We'll start a race that can be won

So take my hand
And don't let go
I'll give the best in me
This you should know

I've never felt like this before
Yes it's a joy so very true,
I found everything I ever wanted
And I found it all in you
