Romancing With Blades And Broken Hearts [Glosa Verse]

Lines from Thunder by Boys Like Girls
--------------------------------------------

Today is a winding road
That's taking me to places that I didn't want to go,
Today in the blink of an eye
I'm holding on to something and I don't know why I tried
````````````````````````````````
Take a walk with me, let's hold hands -
Talk about life, about our future plans.
We can kiss the rain and touch the sky -
I'm just some girl; you're just some guy.
We're Romancing With Blades And Broken Hearts -
But that's okay, I can help carry that load.
We've been like this right from the very start:
Our love cut short; our hearts torn apart.
So ease up your burden, I'll carry your load.
"...Today is a winding road."
This road is long but we'll make it through to end -
And no matter what happens, I'll always be your friend.
So take my hand and let's take this plunge -
Don't be afraid to let all your thoughts come undone.
We're Romancing With Blades And Broken Hearts -
And it's something that we both know.
We've been like this right from the very start:
Our love cut short; our hearts torn apart.
A path with heartbreak and who else knows
"...That's taking me to places that I didn't want to go."
Remnants of out past are still stuck in my head -
I try to shake them loose, but they go deeper instead.
But I guess it's okay, maybe you're supposed to be there -
After all, you are the only one who seems to care.
We're Romancing With Blades And Broken Hearts -
But then again, I'm just some girl, you're just some guy.
We've been like this right from the very start:
Our love cut short; our hearts torn apart.
As you know, things change with no time to ask "Why?"
"... Today in the blink of an eye."
Let's go for the path with the least resistance,
And maybe we can try for that teenage romance.
So as we walk, tell me what you believe in;
And just so you know, I don't plan on leaving.
We're Romancing With Blades And Broken Hearts -
As I ring the tissue of all the tears I cried -
We've been like this right from the very start:
Our love cut short; our hearts torn apart.
And yet, I still can't stop asking myself why,
"...I'm holding onto something and I don't know why I tried."
Glosa-Verse: A Spanish form invented by court poets in the 14th and 15th centuries. An opening quatrain, called a 'cabeza' is chosen from another poet, or song. The glosa elaborates or 'glosses' on the quatrain with four ten line stanzas, their concluding lines taken consecutively from the quatrain and their sixth and ninth lines rhyming with the borrowed tenth.
    Hmmm. I`m gonna mix it up a bit and start off this comment by asking a question. *clears throat* WHY IN THE WORLD IS THIS AT 4.5?!
    I loved this, I loved every bit of this poem. From the very start to the very end I was captivated. I re-read it a few times and everytime I fell even more in love with it. This is the perfect poem for someone to read when they are going through a break-up. And I must say, just for the record; I LOVE this song! I fell in love with it and listen to it non-stop..actually, I was listening to this cd as I was reading this and this song was playing. :$ How ironic are we? Lmao, anyways...
    "Let's go for the path with the least resistance,
    And maybe we can try for that teenage romance.
    So as we walk, tell me what you believe in;"
    I LOVED those lines, amazing.
    The two people aboveme are right. This does sound like a song. Anyway, this poem was beautifully written but I got to admit when I first saw it the length was a bit daunting, but I'm glad I read it. I also loved your chocie of words. Nothing I would change about the poem.
