Homecoming

by Independence Forever   Aug 16, 2007

My picture of heaven may differ from yours
some things are the same, such as no wars

i picture it as a great homecoming, pomp and parade
many waiting friends, a big ceremony, a great charade

confetti is thrown out of building windows
great money and wealth, to me bestows

walking down the golden street, people cheer
the sight of so much happiness seems queer

people shake my hand, calling me "hero"
no hate, slothfulness, or gluttony, zero

as i walk the people i helped in life rise and follow
Friends, family, well wishers, so much to swallow

i finish my walk, one man greater than any other
he wishes me happy homecoming, calls me brother

a delightful fantasy, but just the title page
a greater life here, written on this new stage
