The Train and the Cargo

by shae r   Aug 17, 2007

Its 1948
31st of July
The train is leaving the station
With no destination in mind

Little is the world aware
Of the value, of the cargo held inside
And even less does the cargo know
Of whats in store along this ride

Many stops are made
As people board and depart
Leaving their mark and footprints
Engraved in this cargos heart

Its 1968
Two tracks forever become one
An adventure of its own
Has only just begun

Its 1972
This trains still moving steadily
The cargo now has the joy
Of sharing this journey with a family

31st of July once more
59 years since this train first departed
Still moving just as fast
As when this journey started

This train of course resembles the life
Of the cargo; my grandmother
The tracks resemble the path of life
That we share with one another

I wish you well on the rest of this ride
I pray for many more stations in your tomorrow
Still a long way from the end of the line
59 stations and many to go
