Love's Casualties

by Midnight Sun   Aug 17, 2007

Sometimes I can't help but feel
All you will ever do
Is sit there and count my scars
From battles you put me through

Each mark has it's own story
All of which I know too well
I feel as if none are my secret
But I'm on display...show and tell

But I'm only one of many
A forgotten tale on love's warpath
A mere casualty no one remembers
As they live, love, and laugh

But yesterday's tears never dried
My broken heart refuses to pound
So as I die a painful death
I slowly fall to the hardened ground

So I write this poem with hope
That I can still live
Not in body, but spirit
In a lesson that to you I'll give.
