The Road Less Traveled

by ShootingStar179   Aug 18, 2007

Bittersweet memories echo down an endless hall,
Silence surrounds slowly as the trail becomes longer,
Can't look back, can't turn around,
Fear grasps hold when I can't hear a sound.

Walking slowly turns into a run,
Heartache, betrayal, anger, and tears,
Won't be hurt, won't be afraid,
Sadness attacks as the dreams fade.

Exhaustion fills this worn, old body,
Stopping seems heavenly as the limbs burn,
Don't give up, don't let down,
Empty smiles replace a million frowns.

The end of the hall is in sight,
A sigh of relief escapes my soul,
Finally overcome it, finally here,
Life itself is a bundle of roads traveled far and near.

Live life to the fullest, for there is only one.
