What We Become

The ignore each other
And look the other way
But they both know
It wasn't supposed to end this way.
I'm sorry for all the things i've said
Things weren't supposed to end like this
We walk away and ignore each
We're dead to each other
But in reality I'll never forget you
And I hope you'll never forget me
We both know this was a mistake
But than again if that were the case
We wouldn't be in this mess.
Were we better off as friends?
Or as a couple?
And I hope that maybe at some time,
I will cross your mind.
Even if only for a second,
For then I know that you do still care.
But I guess for now theres no point in worrying about the future,
As of today we have no future,
At least not together.
As time goes on and we date other people,
And we move on,
We'll fade from memory,
Til only a picture remains,
The last picture of us.
Walking away from each other,
And eventually that will fade to.
We'll forget each others names and faces,
Leaving only a shadow of who that person may have been.
So as we both walk away,
Lets turn back.
Take a look at each other,
That image we can keep with us forever.
Lets not rip up the letters and the photos,
Lets keep them in a box as a treasure,
Of our time together.
Not all of it was bad,
Most of it was good.
I still cant pinpoint where it started going down hill.
Can you?
There were no little fights,
And there were no mean words.
We just stoped talking,
We never had a reason,
At least that I know of.
So I guess this is goodbye,
Sorry to have taken up your time,
But this needed to be said.
If in time you change your mind and decide that we were worth it,
I'll still be here.
Maybe not waiting for you,
And maybe not single,
But I'll always be here,
Even if it is just as your friend.
For that's how we started and I'd like to think that that's how we'll end.
