Pain On Display

by AmberSherrellxxIve Been Sitting Here Trying To Find Myselfxx   Aug 18, 2007

Once upon a time, not very far away
A young girl sits in her room and waits
Something's wrong, she can feel it inside
She looks out the window, knowing something's not right

She opens the glass pane and the wind stirs her hair
Something's wrong, she can feel it in the air
Taking a deep breath, she closes her eyes
Her heart is racing rapidly inside

The phone rings suddenly, her call of fatality
She catches her breath and prays to change reality
The voice cries, muffled and choked
Heart wrenching words are the only ones spoke

Tears begin to bleed out of her eyes
She hangs up with no goodbye
A slick curve, a truck, a foot too heavy on the pedal
Caused his death and the twisted metal

She cries and cries, too many tears
She sobs in sorrow because this was her fear
She lost the love of her life and it was her blunder
Lighting strikes and there's a rumble of thunder

It's all her fault, she had chose his fate
Now he was gone and it was too late
She kept him out too late at night
And she had caused him to lose his life

It begins to rain, it pours and pours
She finally stands and runs out the door
The rain cascades down upon her shoulders
She feels like she's being beaten by boulders

She screams toward the heavens
And falls to the ground
She begs and she pleads
But makes no sound

A week passes and she stands by his grave
Her soul is destroyed her heart is broken
She's a hazard to herself
There's nothing you can do for no one can help

She talks no more
Her voice is gone
She doesn't want anyone around
She'd rather be alone

She doesn't smile
She doesn't laugh
She just spends her time
Dwelling in the past

Her eyes a lifeless
Cold and dull
She walks around
Like she's a worthless hull

She wears scars
Both old and fresh
She doesn't care
If you think she's a mess

She's crying on the inside
But bleeding on the out
She wants to scream
She wants to shout

But she says nothing
She just puts her pain on display

Powerful, truly powerful. I can relate to some parts of this piece. You have a way with words, you put strong, raw emotions in your poems, which touches me every time. Whole poem has great descriptions.
I like the ending, it rounds up whole poem with great effect.
    Keep writing!
