Out My Bedroom Window

by Sparks   Aug 19, 2007

When I was five I remember seeing
The ripe red strawberry patch out my bedroom window
Id crawl under there fence and steal
A few,
But only a few

When I was six I remember seeing
The hedgehog scurrying across the lawn
He ran and ran into the gutter
I picked him up (with gloves on)
And brought him inside
I fed him bread and butter
With milk on the side

When I was seven I remember seeing
The butterflies in swarm
The flash of colour and excitement
Just after dawn
The blue ones stood out among the hefty crowd
They shone and danced atop the wavy clouds

When I was eight I remember seeing
The willow tree cut down
A sight to see
Because the long lived tree
Fell aground
No more swings from low lying branches
No more sights from the top

When I was nine I remember seeing
A fantail singing
From my bedroom window
He sung all day and sung all night but
As the sun got up
So did he
And flew away
