The Placid Lake

by Beverley Joseph   Aug 19, 2007

Staring out into the placid lake,
The windblowing at my hair,
I wonder to myself
Should I have such worldly cares?

Wondering if I will live tomorrow,
Wondering if I will live today,
Oh God, hear this sinner's cry
I pray.

Never believing tomorrow will bring another day,
Never dreaming what could be,
My life is like that bird,
On top of the tree.

Wish I could fly,
Fly straight up in the air,
Wish I could soar,
Soar from all of my pain.

How can I relinquish
These feelings I keep trapped?
These demons that keep me
From seeing truly

Give thanks,
To those that truly care
Behind you,
Never wavering fom
The devil's stare.

Open the mind,
Open the soul,
Open the eyes

So that you can breathe life
Into those air-deprived lungs.

Be true to you,
To God,
To the sky above.

Look up,
Smell the sun,
Feel the air,
Taste the clouds.

Be one with the night,
Be pieces of a star,
Be whole like the moon.

Never forgetting,
Never remembering
For ever moving..

Like the Placid Lake.
