Primordial mind

by amer   Aug 20, 2007

Fists clenched,

pain of digging nails fueling fire.

Deep ragged, jagged breaths

of raging fury.

Heart thumping, pounding

leaping in the throat.

A haze of red.

Muscles bunching, tensing,

crying to be unleashed.

Adrenaline pumping,

intoxicating, blurring rational thought.

The irrational need

of the primordial mind

to sever, bash and destroy.

It roars to be heard,

to be acted upon.

...and so you listen...

...and so you act...

...The feeling departs

A deflating ballon

hissing, fading slowly,

bitterness in the mouth,

of expired breath.

Sour feeling in the stomach,

of having gone too far.

Heart clenches,

as guilt clamps down.

Thoughts untwist,

from an intoxicated mind.

Gasp of clear air,

as realisation sears.

Ice in the veins,

as the wilful mind,

resumes control.
