Receptacle

The angel closes her eyes,

she is blind,

and time passes beyond her grasp.

She clasps,

in her heart the freedom,

Only she knows.

She turns away

From the fray

Of this world, of this time and this life.

She holds a light

In her heart for a time to come

When only she knows .

The angel hardens her heart to what she has seen,

She recedes,

Her mind seeking solace elsewhere.

She cares,

Enough to fade away to come back a time,

When only she knows.

She aches with the world’s pain,

But refrains,

From letting loose her anguish.

She would extinguish,

agony needed to learn and so she keeps it for a time,

When only she knows.

The angel takes a breath and sighs.

She cries,

For the lost souls she must neglect,

To help protect.

She carries the burden for a time

When only she knows

She leaves the world but is ever there

She is everywhere

She holds the hopes and dreams in her heart

While she waits for a time

When only she knows.
