Dreamer's Goodbye.

by Brittany   Aug 21, 2007

You can't tie a rope to a dreamer's neck,
And predict what their mind will say,
You can't hear the words so silently spoken,
And you can't mend a heart once it's broken.
A certain intensity is caught flying around,
The dreamer will take steps in an imaginary direction,
Only to hit solid concepts and blocks to that other world,
The realist goes insane, thoughts undeniably curled.
There's a lock and key to that place harbouring words,
I've tried to many times to read the outer door,
While the unsuspecting girl doesn't know what's in store,
As she stumbles across the room with inspiration hanging from the wall.
Yes, this dreamer has been called crazy by a few,
But I know you can't create the images in my head,
The precise reason that sleep may be hard to come by,
All the nightmares tell me to jump into a never-ending dream.
For once those voices aren't going to overpower me,
This time I'm going to step away from the danger,
I'm going to step away from that imaginary life I long for,
Quietly I'm going to conform to a world of harsh realities,
And this mind will not conquer the silence, but embrace it.

I've tried to many times to read the outer door,
    `to = too

    Minor mistake (: Anyway, Brittnay,
You truly have a way with words. When I first read the title, I thought this would be cliche, but you gave the title its justice. From my view, the poem just radiates with a great message. The first line, to the very last sentence -- the whole thing was just beautiful . The ending was gorgeous, btw.
I haven't read anything like it. How you started it -- interesting thought & image to place in a readers head, but the ending? Masterpiece. I don't have words for it,
It all just tied together flawlessly.

"Quietly I'm going to conform to a world of harsh realities,
And this mind will not conquer the silence, but embrace it."
Beautifully simple, real words to live by.
