Don't Tell Me

by kia   Aug 21, 2007

There's not always hope
Not always an answer
Some people were put here to suffer
So others knew how happy they were
I'm sick of being the horrible comparison
I never think my life's that bad till people point it out
Just because they have it easy
Doesn't mean I want to know I've got it hard
Ignorance is my only defense
Wish you didn't enjoy ripping it down
If I put up a barrier
Stop trying to get through
If I want to let you in
I'll take it down and let you see through
Don't try to force it
Because I just add to it every time you do
If you think you love me
Take the time to understand me
If you think you care
Ask me what I need
Don't tell me what your solution is
If you want me to open up
Be there when I need you
Don't stick your nose in
When you've got a free minute
Don't shut me out of my own feelings
Don't tell me it's my fault
I don't need me as an enemy
Don't read me a book of cliches
If you want me to believe a word you say
Speak from your heart not from fact
Don't speak to me about my paranoia
When you keep all these secrets
You blow hot and cold every time I turn
If I can't predict you I'm never going to be ready
Don't ask me if I'm okay if you can see my tears
We both know I'm not. Why even ask
Don't expect me to have all the answers
If I did, I wouldn't have these questions
Don't tell me you're here for me whenever I need you
Then ask me not to contact you at work
Don't tell me that you'll see me
And then stop talking to me altogether
Don't open up a can of worms
Then leave before we find a lid
Don't ask me about rape then ask me for sex
I'll never open up to you about things you don't want to know
Don't tell me life's not so hard
When you don't walk in my shoes
Don't tell me to stop crying and hand me a tissue
When I want to cry my heart out on your shoulder
Don't pretend you love me
When you continually rip me in two
Don't pretend you like kissing me
When you're only interested in sex
Don't tell me it's not about sex
When that's all we do
Don't tell me you love me then make me blue

Love it!!! I think in this poem you have just spoken for every woman in every country around the world. Its amazing how a man dosent always see the depth of a problem, and his compassion is, more often than not, limited. I think that all men should read this poem and compare themselves to it. I know im not perfect and i know some parts i read within your text explained a bit about me, i thank you for writing this, now i can make some more changes in my life to make myself a better person.

    Much appreciated Kia, thx.

    Matt........btw 5/5
