Phantom of the heart

by Santiago   Aug 21, 2007

You sent your words to me
written from the heart
Told me that our souls were twined
shouldn't be apart

Spoke to me of tender love
but you couldn't see
You were pulling me behind
way too fast for me

when you said you understood
and you turned away
but I'd touched your soul by then
wanted you to stay

Tell me now, how can you miss
what you have never had
How can a stranger leaving you
make you feel oh so sad

There wasn't any need to rush
no hurry if it's true
You need to wait until the time
my soul may come to you

But losing you has made we weep
I really can't say why
I can't explain the sense of loss
I will not even try

I never even saw your face
I only know you drew me
I felt the touch of destiny
somehow it seemed you knew me

I do not know why you refused
to be my friend and stay
You were my phantom of the heart
I miss you anyway.
