Nature Abuse

A lonely shell
A long way from home
Lays in wait
For someone to come

He cries out loud
Asking why he was left alone
He hadn’t done anything wrong
When he was picked and thrown

Why this abuse
He never hurt anyone
He just lay
Waiting for someone

He was taken
From the warm sand
He was put in a jar
And was expected to just stand

Weeks pass
And no one acknowledges him
Then he was given
To someone who could win

He was glued to a shirt
Then a piece of jewelry
He went from hand to hand
But then he did see

He saw the ocean
So bright and blue
When someone picked him up
And then he flew

Away from the hands
Away from the abuse
He swam away to his friends
To tell them the news

So he lay
Surrounded by friends
Knowing only that
Love wins
