Floor of ice

Floor of ice

Looking at the square,
not the name you said I'd become,
but the earth that we're living in.
All the things that we've done and the world's we tried to discover.
Well, I lost those dreams long ago, simply because
You never managed to keep your emotions undercover,
I'm guessing it would only have taken a little digging
For me to find out,
The false roots I left hope upon,
The false roots you laughed at me from.
Well I'm starting to learn,
Our World has four corners
And the floor's made of ice,
It scares me to know we could slip off at any time.
Some days I wouldn't even need a push,
Though I'm willing to bet you'd still give me one.
Go paint your face up,
Even that won't cover the stains, darling.
It won't kill the memories of me either.
And don't you look in the mirror, you're too used to seeing me beside you,
It might even scare you to be alone.
That doesn't fool me for more than a second.
Let's decide who these words are really about.
I don't have time to doubt it's me.
But when the pretences all rub off,
Well then it'll be time to see,
Who's really better off?

For now just stay on this floor of ice,
For now just hold me for one last time.

I liked it, you guys write well together but it did kind of skip around a bit though. The wording and imagery was excellent, the flow could just use a little more work.
