The Forgotten

by Cindy   Aug 23, 2007

Lying awake hearing you both talking

Saying you thought the time was coming near

I couldn't catch my breath, my heart aching

Now everything that's happening is clear

Wondering why everything is taken

Knowing I'm a burden on ones held near

Daddy's dead now and you promised you'd stay

Sitting in a strange room, you walk away

Gone are all my comforts, I held so dear

Sold them to strangers looking for a deal

You left me here all alone, my worst fear

Don't think this kind of pain will ever heal

I gave to you my life and love for years

Look deep in my eyes, my pain do you feel

All I ever wanted was to be loved

Waiting on dad to take me up above

Looking around me at all these lost souls

They use to have family and friends also

Friends are all dead now, family has control

Used to laugh and smile spark left long ago

See my haunted eyes, my life has been stolen

Now left in a place with hollow echoes

Cries, pain and loneliness, forgotten ones

Never thought you'd leave me my only son

I had the bad luck of being in a nursing home. Thank God my family brought me home.

This is dedicated to all the forgotten souls who are still there trapped and alone.
