Love is just another word for self-destruction

by Ambivalency   Aug 23, 2007

You were just another disaster
spinning in slow motion

I tucked your picture into
the pages of my favorite fairy tale
& wished upon a blurry star
that you would be the one

[.come to find out;;
love is just another word
for self-destruction.]

I stuck your picture to my wall
with glow in the dark
stars all around it

& honestly I expected
a taste of perfection

but pity was scribbled out
and your name written in place

I wrote little poems out
on post its and stuck them
all around your face

maybe this more of an obsession?
unhealthy.. addiction?

but your name was burned
into my skin [[literally]]

& I wasn't letting go so easy
not when all we had was
disappointment

..you had let-down stamped
all over your skin-
in her glitter gloss shade..

{too bad I never saw it coming}

    Definitely not a big fan of using "&&" or anything in poems but that's just my style. This is a very interesting piece though. Painted a pretty vivid picture in my head and the ending was nice. I am sure a lot of people can relate to this. Keep it up.
