James

by Serina the Squid   Aug 24, 2007

Oh, let these masked faces reign.
I have been stripped of all I love.
Brother, I am calling. I will come.

God, these footsteps trodding,
on the face of my kin
stop those beating hearts
before my blade uncovers skin.

They steal like rabid dogs
weary, old young souls
immature hearts open
just to eat from plastic bowls
the hearts that give them life.

And brother, you are fading
beneath the pressure of that love
find solace in my memory
Oh, brother, I will come.

And, James, my little turtle,
you are stronger than you know
so as their hands are reaching
for the hope with which you go
simply turn on them and, bleeding,
walk strongly from the show.

I am waiting, helpless, here
but your battle I am raging.
Souls that have abused you
I am killing and am shaming.

And whether marks sets weak or strong
It doesn't matter, they don't care
And in a moment all is gone.
But, Brother, hear me, I will come.

This was so heartbreaking to read, and yet so beautifully written at the same time.

The pain and despair is easily felt by the reader, and I liked how you also mixed determination with those emotions, I thought that made the piece very strong.

    Beautifully written.
