Who it Effects

by audrey harris   Aug 24, 2007

David was a silly kid,
and always had to smart off.
He always played "Ironman" on his sax;
he said he loved to rock.

He always used to make stupid jokes,
his nerdiness made us smile.
He was fascinated by video games
and he hated to run his mile.

But then one day his goofy laugh
became a solemn silence.
His sister was losing her life,
while a drunk just lost her license.

David doesn't play his sax anymore,
his video games grow cold.
His sister lies in a coma,
and he doesn't want to know.

They say that she won't make it,
he remains silent, eluding tears.
He won't go home to be reminded,
he just wants to forget this year.

The drunk's picture is in the paper,
he becomes angry and storms away.
His sister so close to death while
a drunken mugshot laughs to waste.

David isn't David anymore,
all because of the wreck.
You never know who your stupid decision
could kill and effect.

*this was written in regards to a friend named David, who's sister, Jackie, was hit by a drunk driver and remains in a coma, while a small town prays she lives. The drunk driver is in jail now, which really isn't enough.*
