Pictures of us

I look through pictures of us
of us being together
each one reminding me
of a happy place and time

i review the life and look
of such bright
and hopeful moments
now reduced to a soulful rhyme

when someone says your name
the pain still overwhelms
now that you're no longer mine
it will never sound the same

tears roll down my cheeks
one for each special memory
of the two people in the pictures
in as they say"happier times"

its so very sad
our hopes-dashed
our dreams-all bid goodbye
the promises we made-now all put aside

i think back
on all the loving things we said
i believed these words
now bittersweet and yet,

i believed in us
took our words to heart
felt your touch, your kiss
how can i ever forget?

somewhere loves path parted
and we went our separate ways
i try but dont forget
even dreams have memories

still my only hope is forgetting
so ill store away our pictures
along with happy memories
and bury them with new ones
made without you
