A Far Night

by MidniteRain   Aug 26, 2007

I sit upon this rock tonight,
It does not give under my weight,
My soul is restless, heart is torn,
The ground feels soft beneath bare feet,
I fear for the coming of morn,
Yet I do not wish to fall asleep,
I watch the stars to avoid those dreams.
Seeking comfort in that cold, hard stone,
Stealing warmth from Earth below,
I search the skies for my lost soul,
Hoping those stars will make me whole.
Knowing what I need is inside,
But looking so deep makes me cry.
