I Am Human

by MaSkEdSoUl   Aug 28, 2007

I am a Muslim
And I am proud

I may be covered
No skin in sight

My hands may show
My feet and face too

But that doesn't mean
I don't need respect

I am human
I am just like you

I cover my body
To get respect

I don't like guys
Checking out my ass

I don't like girls
Giving me dirty looks

I wanna be respected
About how I think

I want people to notice
I am intelligent

I am opinionated
I am out-spoken

To all the people
That like to stare

I am Human
I'm just like you

I'll get respect
Not showing my boobs

***I just wanted to add in and explain the last part I said "I'll get respect Not showing my boobs" I just wanted to say that that part isn't meant for all the Non-Muslim women out there its meant for SOME of them cuz there are some women out there that use themselves to get what they want and they end up not getting respect from both males and females. Just wanted to clear that one out.***

What you are saying is true, what is the use of wearing clothes that are revealing and expect people to respect.

I have no more words to say. your poem is very good my sister.

Mm. i liked this. i never really put much thought into why muslims choose to wear the traditional clothing in the us. now that youve wrote about it, i understand it. i like the idea. i was just talking to a guy today, whos somewhat of a friend, and i learned he seriously checks out my behind, and it made me really uncomfortable. and thats just learning that via IM. =]

well anyway. i think this poem is great.
