Baily

by Dan   Aug 28, 2007

Hi all. I decided to try something new and one of my best friends lost his cat to a serious illness. Her name was Baily and I decided i'd try to write a poem about it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

The dearest of things
The closest of friends
Part of the family
Though they come to an end

The pain and the suffering
Through illness and death
The love and the heartbreak
That I felt as you left...

As you faded away from my life
Could i have done better?
Did I do something wrong?
Was it all my fault?

Is it something I've done?
Why did you leave?
You just had to go
The pain that you've caused may never heal

I grew too attatched
Found you then lost you
In the blink of an eye
You faded away...

    Dan,

This is very sweet and touching; howver, I think it ight be easier if broken up into stanzas instead of reading like a paragraph.

When it is broken up it is alot easier for the reader to digest without feling overwhelmed.

How about posting it like this....

    The dearest of things
    The closest of friends
    Part of the family
Though they come to an end

    The pain and the suffering
    Through illness and death
    The love and the heartbreak
That I felt as you left...

As you faded away from my life
    Could i have done better?
    Did I do something wrong?
    Was it all my fault?

    Is it something I've done?
    Why did you leave?
    You just had to go
The pain that you've caused may never heal

    I grew too attatched
    Found you then lost you
In the blink of an eye
    You faded away...

Your words are exactly the same ... just broken up into stanzas for the reader.

I thought this was really sweet and touching. I really hope that you continue to write more poetry. It is one large learning experience and everyday you gain more knowledge and new ideas.
