She was gone

by Amy   Apr 30, 2004

She chose to walk alone
while others wondered why
she stared distantly ahead
and gazed into the sky

She began to close her eyes
and let the autumn air
surround her entire world
where no one gave a care

She longed to be a bird
to spread her wings and fly
soar above the mountain tops
till the day that she would die

The only thing she heard
was the sound of her own voice
floating on the wind
as she made her final choice

She knew she was invisible
just another face
and within time, another lost soul
would take her place

Drifting in and out
of the places she did roam
never once finding
a place to call her home

She never wanted
to be one of the crowd
just to be noticed
to stand up and be proud

Someone finally saw
one cold and frosty morning
that she had disappeared
gone without warning

But no one shed a tear
never noticed at all
she was just another face
drifting in the hall

Her gentle laughing voice
began to fade into
the black and white background
they never even knew

Her kind and gentle soul
floated up to above
and without even knowing
the feeling of love

At the breaking of
a brand new dawn
they finally realised
that she was gone
