Helping Hand

by enfant du tordu chagrin   Aug 29, 2007

I look deep into the glass and right there you stand
Arm outstretched in kindness, offering your hand
I see pity in your eyes, a wish to offer aid
Offering an end to pain, for such things I've prayed

You're offering me comfort, an end to misery
The gift of a new outlook, a way I can be me
A chance for redemption, a way I might atone
An end to all the loneliness, so I'm no more alone

I look deep into the glass and right there you stand
Arm outstretched in kindness, offering your hand
But though I wish to take it, that can never be
For that hand you offer, that hand belongs to me
