The Irony of Our Lives

by Cenito   Aug 29, 2007

How I loathe this warm summer month,
When the Sun is relentlessly warming us up
And the gentle breeze is caressing my face,
When my heart lavishes with joy and love,
But something dark and painful always impairs me.

How I hate this month,
Which took a friends ability to walk,
And seized one's life from us all.
Thought it would be the comedy of our lives,
But instead a tragedy slowly unfolded right before my eyes.

I thought one night wouldn't, couldn't change it all,
Believed in drinking and partying can cure it all,
Valued the effects of drugs and alcohol,
Was stupid enough to think that we were all invincible.

One night though, you drank too much
Wanted to get some sleep and no one was alarmed,
Now ashamed at the irony of our lives,
We stand here, candles lit, thoughts unveiling;
Believing that it should have been us all.

Love you Tito and miss you so much.
