I've been here before
Far too many times
Next to you

With nothing but silence

I can't believe the mindless chatter
That escapes my lips

As I despise every word

To speak something real
To say something worth the breath

That rolls off your tongue
And breaks through your lips
To be set free

My mouth replies with pleasantries
And my head nods
While my heart beats faster
Telling that same head
To speak the words I need
But all there is, is silence

And I let you walk away
As though there's nothing left to say.
