Moving on

by Katie   Aug 30, 2007

The bells are silent,
The church is empty,
The confetti is scattered,
They've all moved on.

The food is eaten,
The glasses are drained,
The cake is cut,
They've all moved on.

The speeches are said,
The first dance is danced,
The gifts have been left,
They've all moved on.

The dress hangs dirty,
The suits returned,
The cards have come down,
They've all moved on.

The photographs chosen,
The video's been watched,
The thank yous are written,
They've all moved on.

But I am still here,
wishing that it wasn't over,
Knowing that this is only the beginning,
But I haven't moved on.

I just don't want to forget,
I can't forget,
I will not forget,
But I must move on.

The ring I wear,
Contains all the memories I need,
Of a day so special
I must move on.

The start of a new life,
With the man that I love,
With all of my heart
We will move on together.

The longing for something more to do won't go away until you try to embrace the new part; the new chapter of your life.. Yes, marriage can bring a new home, or a new addition, but you have each other, and that's what counts.. When the next part of your life is ready to be lived, you will live it.. but until then, see that this new phase is as good, and as fun as the part where you're busy preparing. It's hard, once it's all done, to find happiness in the quiet.. but it's there.. All you have to do is enjoy it. xx
