Expectations

by Carrie   Aug 31, 2007

She remembers stupid fights
and can't forgive herself
for all the time wasted.
She wishes he could hold her
every night she cries alone.
But he tells her time will speed up.
She's sorry for the times
he felt he wasn't good enough.
She knows he's perfect.
He still worries about
how much sleep she's getting.
He's sorry for overly thinking
about his expectations
though she doesn't mind
because she has her share too.
But neither of them
expected this distance
would be this hard.
