Teach me how to be normal

by Sheree Speaks   Aug 31, 2007

Teach me how to walk among robots,
Among robot towns.
Teach me how to keep a straight face.
Show me how to frown.

Scare me with politics.
Scare me with threats.
Show me brainwashing commercials,
That make you buy cigarettes.

Reward me with minimum wage.
Drown me in debt.
Pump me full of hormones,
I'm not on birth control yet.

Make me pay cash,
No credit, no checks.
Teach me stereotypes,
White collars and red necks.

Make me listen to trashy music.
Make me wear trashy clothes.
Make me stay up late in town,
Going where everyone else goes.

Force me to believe the overrated.
Take away my opinions.
Make me like everyone else,
Everyone else and their minions.

Make me a pessimist.
Make me a snob.
Make me a jerk.
But give me a job.

Because no one likes a Christian.
No one likes a straight A student.
No one likes an anti-social weirdo
Who's conservative and prudent.

Teach me how to be normal.
And live among the rest.
So I can please everyone,
So that everyone's impressed.

Give me fake boobs,
Give me fake hair,
Make me tell lies
And give a cold stare.

Sorry for being cynical.
Sorry for being modest,
Insecure, unusual,
And breaking all my promises.

So teach me how to be "them".
