Picture Box People

by Twisted Heart   Sep 1, 2007

Scatters from the winds of change
Among debris life rearranged
Plastic people without souls
Transparent vessels aged and cold

Faded paper memories
Shattered glass of vacancy
Against the harshness of the frame
Tepid souls that time has claimed.

Smiles splash happy on the page
As distant dreams begin to rage
Inside the soul behind the eyes
Are shattered thoughts and battle cries

Now tossed upon the dusty dreams
Lost faces of transparency
Forever gone inside the depths
Of time that captured single breaths.

No life inside the photographs
Faded faces in broken glass
Boxed inside, their souls to see
Among the faded memories.

This piece is simply amazing, I saw it under top rated and the title caught my eye and I just had to read it and I'm glad I did. It rhymes and flows beautifully. It's really a wonderful piece.

I tried to vote it into the contest nominations but with the voting all screwed up like it is, it wouldn't let me. But I do feel it should be in the contest. Great work.

Jeannie...This brought to mind so many times I have stared at a picture of a loved one that has moved on, and longed for the knowledge, love, touch or mere existence of that person. Only to come back to reality and know that it is not possible.
You have written a wonderful piece here and this is definitely one of my fave's of yours. Awesome Job, Kay

Your poems always touch me deeply. This one really did a number on me. For some reason it brought tears to my eyes.

    No life inside the photographs
    Faded faces in broken glass
Boxed inside, their souls to see
    Among the faded memories.

This was the stanza that really ripped at my heart.
    Excellent job my friend.

Wow..got to be one of my favorites from you. The title really pulled me into it, I love the title of this but then reading it just did the title even more justice..the imagery in this piece was amazing and the wording did a good job of pulling it all together. Loved it.
