The Plague

by Christina Yap   Sep 2, 2007

Look into my eyes
Deep within my soul
And you will see
A broken heart
Which,
For you
It once beat
It cried for thirst
Desired love
But its quencher
It did not obtain
So it no longer beats
It’s shriveling up
Withering away
Like the death of a rose
Falling
Like a leaf from a tree
The tree of love
The tree of life
Dropping
Like rain from the sky
And breaks
Like glass
Shattering
With sounds of thunder
Instantly
I cringe with pain
And try to fix the glass
But the pieces cut me
I’m bleeding
Internally
My wounds refuse to heal
I’m sick
The symptoms of this plague is killing me
Slowly
But surely
I consume medications
But my condition only worsens
You are the cause of this plague
And you
Are the only cure
