Real Me

Real Me

Foolish heart, here you go again
Why let him again reach in?
To your memories, to your truth
How can you, without the proof
That he won't be one to lie this time...

But will he be...the one to see
The real me? Completely?
To hold me as well as unveil me
To know me fully and to keep me.
With all my unconventional complexities.
With all my contradictory imperfections.

How my soul does ache,
this glass heart shall break
If I don't say this soon
Who are you to swoon
and then to break away?
Never to fully love me...

But can you see...the real me?
Hiding from within
Broken beneath the skin
Who are you to see, the real me
Seeing you turn these tatters
into a shimmering tapestry.

How much more to give till I'm empty?
Trying to explain the wild I really am
While holding back the pain all I can
I'm dying to let breathless tears replace
The painted smile thats scarred my face.

But will you see...the real me?
Falling from this desperate grasp
You'd understand, if words could dance
Then the hurt would burst from this existence...
If only you could learn to know
The way I subtly let it show...

Oh...I hope you'll see the real me
In a wonderful, beautiful sight of me
One day I just hope you know
how much I earn for you to see...
the real me.
