Remebering A Kid

by Aaron Deevers   Sep 2, 2007

I stand here remembering
Remembering the times we spent together
Even though those times were short
Yet I enjoyed them

Know that cancer was on you mind
I did my best to keep it off
I took you on rides and to shows that thrilled

Being in this Big Bother and Sister program
It has changed my life
Remembering the day we met
We introduced ourselves as new friends

At the time I did not know of your cancer
I just thought that you were in need of an older brother
The day I found out it was to late

The day of December 23 is the day that I will not forget
I had a big party planned for you
Knowing that it was going to be your birthday that day

Not knowing of the cancer that would take you away
Away before the big day
That big day you turned five

I stand here remembering that we had good times
I stand here feeling tears falling down my face
Standing here, staring at a gravestone
A stone that says:

'A wonderful son, a wonderful friend,
made life so bright, loss to soon'

As I walk away to move to another young kid
I will never forget the days we spent together
All the fun we had and so much more to come
Only five, yet you touched my heart
This is why I continue to give
Give to those kids who need an older brother and sister

Life was short for you
Yet we sure made it worthwhile till the end
Spent a year together as brothers
I will remember you as a true brother
Never forgetting those great memories we made

This was truly touching, it brought tear's too my eyes.
The words where so pain filled, and heartfelt. There where some grahmatical error's, but it didn't hinder the effect.

    Amazing,
    Elaine.
