The funeral of hearts started without a word,
And the preacher stood, dying to be heard -
The congregation marched one step forward, one back;
And baby`s in black.
In holy matrimony we once took our vows,
I should have known by the sweat on your brows;
You were good but a spine is a thing you lack -
And baby`s in black.
I set myself up at heartbreak avenue, when I turned right;
The world was left but I chose you for a pretty sight,
Now my casket is set out before me, my heart on a plaque;
And baby`s in black.
You pushed me over the edge and it`s a long drop to Hell,
But getting far enough away from you will serve me well,
Each word chanted like a silent heart attack -
And baby`s in black.
I`ll walk this bloody road to the devil on my own,
`Cuz things were always better when I was alone;
Now I`m gone and I`m never turning back,
And baby`s in black.
A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains (a stanza consisting of 4 lines), and each quatrain contains a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last line of each stanza). There is no limit to the amount of stanzas a Kyrielle may have, but three is considered the accepted minimum. The rhyme pattern is completely up to the poet.
