End Of The Night

by Deana   Sep 2, 2007

At the end of the night
Watching silently for the new days start
Eyes wide from the absence of sleep
Wakeful dreams my mind imparts

Memories lying dormant
Emotions held by protective chains
Weakness brought by lack of rest
Frees the heart to feel the pain

Through half-conciousness,outreached arms
Falling gently through the maze
Once more succumbing to your charm
Reliving sweeter days

Loitering there in limbo
Refreshing warmth renewed
The dawn breaks in harshest light
Gone, the end of the night and you.

Exceptional write! Wether the story of a one night stand or of love unable to be fulfilled you have done well for yourself. Been there, done that and have the inner scars to show for it. After reading two of your poems I just had to find out you are a "Jerseygirl", but of course.

Beautiful and sad. Imagery and word choices are great.

    Memories lying dormant
    Emotions held by protective chains
Weakness brought by lack of rest
Frees the heart to feel the pain

These lines really touched my heart.
