For Sonja (We Dance...)

by ntv650   Apr 30, 2004

My heart aches for so many of these fine ladies,
Some of whom I have already tasted.

But It isn't rekindled love that I seek or,
A night of passion and lust.

I have come for the simple inducement,
Of watching you Dance.

Not to tempt you to adhere my bitterest desires,
Or sway you to commit sins abject.
Nor to become a martyr of your beauty or,
Delve in your splendour deep.

Neither to mourn under ruby and sapphire skies,
For a wilting flower so divine.
Instead I have come to watch you dance-

-Dance through the eternal passage of time.

Wrote this during an I.T lesson at school. It's how I sometimes feel about a lot of girls, but particularly one. Make sure that when read you take great notice of the punctuation as I find this greatly influences the speed and rythm of the whole poem.
