This Tear

I tell my feet it is time to walk away
I tell my heart it just can’t stay
I tie my tongue and seal my lips
But the unspeakable slips

My arms keep reaching out
Lingering in the shadow of doubt
My mind is twirling fast
Thinking only of our past

Is that all it is now
How can I allow
Such feelings to live
Why do I continue to give

When you don’t want me for me
Beyond you I cannot see
A life for you without me
In you arms I am truly happy

My feet are planted tightly
My heart is waiting politely
My tongue and my lips
Clear down into my hips

Are the words I said
Just before you fled
Your voice I need to hear
To chase away this tear
