Lingering Love

by Somber Esprit   Sep 4, 2007

Burning pain in my chest
Sharp ice in my gut
Cool tears welling forth
Through eyes tightly shut

With a ghost from the past
I cannot compete
Her name is a blow
Knocks me from my feet

I curl in a ball
All anguish and tears
You loved her first
For so many years

I put on a mask
And say it's alright
Pain buried deep down
Greets my pillow at night

I can't find the words
To say how I feel
The wounds you have caused
Will eventually heal

Whatever you do
I will forgive you
The past or the present,
Whoever you choose

that was my favorite part.. i know what your going through here... i know how it hurts... i know that the wounds will eventually heal... but i know before they do, they will be cut a little deeper than what they were before..

    5/5 keep it up

Just wow. This one blew the ball right outta the park!
    Such a heart tugging poem.
It's perfect the way it is, especially the title

This is actually perfect... the way you have written it is so raw and honest... I love it ... just love it...

I do not think that you should change a thing! It allows the reader to feel your pain and see things in a whole new light...

It is overwhelming! I think you did an awesome job writing this and to allow so many feeling and pain to be expressed so beautifully... very good
