Baby Boy Leaving

by Aaron Deevers   Sep 5, 2007

As I watch you stand so proud
I feel a tear fall from my eye
You have achieve so much in your life
Yet today you achieved another one

My only baby boy
My baby boy that is now a man
A man heading off to war
You have grown to fast

As I watch you board that plane
I take one last picture
Hoping that it won't be the last
But the last of you leaving me

I yell I love you
Knowing you probably didn't hear it
As I turn to leave with tears falling down my face
I hear 'I love you to mom and always will'
I turn back to see him waving
As I wave back he disappears into the plane

Even though he has just took off
I feel that he has been gone for so long
So much training and effort he put towards this
I pray that all of it will bring him home safely

My baby boy now a man
A man that is heading to a war
A war that I hope will not harm him
I pray that the same plane he boarded
Will come back with him walking out of it

I pray to God that to keep my son safe
Keep his friends and comrades also safe
Bring them all back to us in one piece
We will pray till that day of their return
