Your Guitar Gently Weeps

by Cindy   Sep 6, 2007

Sitting holding your guitar
Images play through my mind
Running fingers across sleek wood
Happy thoughts again I find

Remembering that summer day
Underneath an old oak tree
Lying on a blanket by your side
While softly you sang to me

The laughter and the music
Big smile upon your face
A day made for us alone
No one could take my place

We were young and in love
That day beneath the tree
Our hearts tuned to each other
Letting our passion fly free

Years now have come and gone
The days pass slowly by
Now left with only memories
And the tear drops that I cry

Wishing you were back with me
Your love once again to keep
Strumming fingers across strings
Your guitar gently weeps

Thanks for the memories John

This is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I could almsot feel myself under that tree, listening to him sing and play the guitar for me. I'm so glad that you have fond memories like this to cherish in your loss.

One of the most touching poetry I've ever read. It is very serene and tragic. Wonderful poem!

I just discovered this wonderful piece, as I am new here, and I have to say, I feel like such an intruder reading your beautiful words. The way that you seem to infuse a piece of your soul into this... it leaves me speechless. You brought tears to my eyes.
The imagery you used was outstanding, thank you so much for sharing with us!
