The Rest of the World Knows

by I Seem to be the Heartless   Sep 6, 2007

Every time I look into your eyes
I still see something there,
That hint of something more.
But when others look
All they see is the dullness seeping over me,
Trapping me in your web of deceit.

Every time I see your smile,
I remember your hungry kisses,
That taste you left on my mouth.
When others see that smile
They see the conniving, twisted words
That your mouth holds.

Every time you brush past me
And I feel the touch of your skin against mine,
I get this thrill, this passionate feeling inside.
But when others see you brush on by
They see you brushing me off,
Like dust on your pants that you want to get rid of.

Every time I think back to all the signs
That all the others saw but I refused to see,
I realise that I never wanted to believe anything bad about you.
You were perfect to me but the others didn't agree.
While I was happily dreaming about you,
The rest of the world knew the truth...

Ok definately a 5! I like the fact that you finally came to terms with not being wanted back..It's tough.

They see you brushing me off,
Like dust on your pants that you want to get rid of.

Right there is one of the best analogies (spelling?) i've heard in a long time!

AMAZING! Definitely been here. Though my poetic style would never have allowed me to write such a brilliant piece, it is definitely something I've experienced, and could see myself saying. It's a new favorite of mine, and will be added to my list of fav poems!
