Here we sit after all this time has passed
Best friends with questions we've never asked.
Two months ago I would have done anything
For you to see all those hidden feelings.
But now I'm not so sure about where I stand
I'd give everything for you to understand
That I would have offered up my soul for you
But that was yesterday and it's the best I can do
To sit here and tell you that I don't feel that way
Though part of me's begging to find out today,
To see if we could really be all that I imagined
Overstep the boundaries of being just friends.
Make a relationship built strong enough to last.
But all that emotion's been buried in my past.
When you had dated her, it made me move on
Made me get over you. The passion is gone.
So though it didn't work out, neither will this.
I fight the part of me hanging on to that wish.
No one said this would be easy, but here we are
Passing up the chance to take this so far.
As we stare at the stars, I find it a funny situation
I wanted you so bad, but I'm over the frustration.
The two of us are here with forever in our view
But we ended it as friends, just me and you.
